چکیده

Multiple access-based collision avoidance MAC protocols have typically used fixed transmission power, and have not considered power control mechanisms based on the distance of the transmitter and receiver in order to improve spatial channel reuse. In this paper, we motivate transmission power control and investigate the challenges involved in implementing power control in multiple access wireless packet networks. For this work, we focus on wireless ad-hoc networks, where the links connecting sourcedestination pairs are all wireless. Power control has been implemented in cellular networks such as CDMA (code division multiple access) for quite some time now. However, these protocols depend on centralized control (i.e. base stations) and duplex communications that are not inherently present in wireless multiple access packet networks. Our simulation results show that implementing power control in a multiple access environment can improve the throughput performance of the non-power controlled IEEE 802.11 by a factor of 2, thus providing a compelling reason for migrating to a new power controlled multiple access wireless MAC protocol standard.

Improving Bandwidth-power Efficiency of Homogeneous Wireless Networks Using On-meet Threshold Strategy (RESEARCH NOTE)

Over two decades, a problem of location dependent has been focused for improving the communication Bandwidth-Power Efficiency of homogeneous networks. The efficiencies of communication links are weakened by the Hidden Terminal Problem.  Thus we propose a Fine – Tune Strategy for analyzing the On-Off communication region. We were observed that the proposed technique had been able to track and mo...

Energy-Efficient Power Control in Wireless Queueing Networks

In this paper we consider the problem of power control of packet data transmission in a two user multiple access system, with joint consideration of average energy per packet and delay per packet. The problem we consider is an interacting queue problem, where the packets arrive randomly to the buffers of infinite capacity and the transmission success probability of one node depends on whether t...

Supporting Real-Time Service in Packet-Switched Wireless Networks

The requirement of providing real-time data service by wireless networks is a critical issue in the design of current wireless networks. Distributed Queueing Request Update Multiple Access (DQRUMA) has been proposed as a demand assignment medium access control (MAC) protocol to efficiently control the medium sharing by multiple mobile users. With the help of a packet transmission policy, DQRUMA...
